Summa Defence secures record NATO vehicle order

Summa Defence, through its subsidiary Lännen Tractors, has signed a contract with a European NATO member state worth approximately thirty-five million euro, marking the largest single order in the company’s modern history.

The agreement covers the delivery of NATO-adapted Lännen 8800M-DF multifunction machines, alongside spare parts and training for operation and maintenance. Deliveries are scheduled to take place progressively between 2026 and 2028.

- This is the largest single order in Lännen Tractors’ modern history. It strengthens both our competitiveness and our position within the European defence industry, said chief executive Veli Ollila in a press release.

Summa Defence Plc is a Finnish defence and security technology group whose mission is to create a strong industrial foundation of innovative defence and dual use SMEs for strengthening the comprehensive security of society.

Summa Defence aims for both organic and inorganic growth across three focus areas: maritime technologies, land technologies and new technologies.

The contract formalises previously disclosed negotiations and reinforces Summa Defence’s order book for the first half of 2026.

Since autumn 2025, Lännen Tractors has been preparing to increase capacity at its Loimaa facility in south-west Finland, with production processes adapted to meet rising demand from the defence sector.

The 8800M-DF is NATO-classified and has been assigned a NATO Stock Number, enabling procurement through the alliance’s logistics system. 

It is designed for dual-use roles, supporting both civilian infrastructure work and military tasks such as field engineering and obstacle clearance.
